Escape to Goa:

At every twist and turn of the undulating Goan coast there are alluring little coves and bays each completely different and each with its own special charm.

Along the coast are picturesque villages with tall white washed churches and red tiled shouses that nestle into the lush green of the Goan countryside.

Do visit the northern part of Goa, which has got some of the finest beaches are edged by tall leterite cliffs including Calangute, Baga, Anjuna, Vagator and Chapora with an old fort overlooking the beach.

The Arambol Beach has a delightful fresh water pond at the base of a verdant slope. The southern beaches with their expanses of sparkling white sand and calm sea comprise of Bogmolo, Colva, Benaulim, Cavelossim And Mabor. The Tiny bay at Palolem is quite breathtaking and definitely merits a visit.

Shopping:

One just cannot leave Goa without taking back some souvenirs. Local handicrafts of Goa include excellent brassware, terracotta, shell work, crochet, carved furniture, bamboo work, papier-mache, etc, which are available in the Government Emporia and at tourist spots.

Little stalls along the beaches sell handicrafts from all over the country. Recently Goa has featured some up market outlets such as Wendell Rodrique's Boutique in Panaji, Camelot at Ribandar selling stylish home accessories, Luisa By The Sea a modern shopping mall at Cavelossim and boutiques at the plush hotels are evidence of this trend.

The Friday Market at Mapusa is a fascinating excursion, where pavement stalls sell everything from curios and old coins to dried fish and spices. Mapusa has also jewellery shops noted for fine-filigreed gold ornaments. The Wednesday Flea Market at Anjuna Beach is another lively spot where souvenirs, beachwear, trinkets and handicrafts are sold.

Drinking Out:

Try the Feni:

Whilst in Goa try the local drink which is Feni...distilled from either cashews or coconuts. You'll either love it or hate it. All the locally produced spirits are very cheap...
